1 Timothy 6:11-12
1 Timothy 6:11-12“But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
Notice the action verbs in these two verses: flee, pursue, fight, take hold of. To live the Christian life is not to live a passive life, but to live a life of action. We do not do anything to obtain our salvation, for Christ has obtained it on our behalf. But now, in Christ, we are called to action. We don’t just suit up in the whole armor of God and then curl up in a ball and take the blows from the enemy. We flee from sin. We pursue the character of Christ. We fight the good fight of faith. We take hold of the eternal life we have been called to. Christian, take action today.
